East Coast Psychology Group: Practicum Training Overview
At East Coast Psychology Group, we specialize in training emerging clinicians who are passionate about building meaningful, sustainable careers in private practice. As a practicum student with us, you will gain hands-on experience providing high-quality outpatient psychotherapy in a collaborative and supportive group setting.
Clinical Experience
You can expect to see individual clients and, when appropriate, co-facilitate or lead therapy groups. We encourage you to lean into your clinical passions and areas of expertise—whether that’s working with young adults, perinatal mental health, trauma, relationships, or another specialty area. Our goal is to help you refine your clinical identity while providing strong supervision and mentorship.
Professional Development
Beyond direct clinical work, you’ll receive practical training in the business and operational aspects of private practice. This includes:
Crafting and customizing intake paperwork
Setting and communicating your clinical fees
Managing client communication and boundaries
Developing community referral networks
Understanding marketing, branding, and ethical business practices
Career Support and Future Readiness
We are deeply committed to supporting your clinical and professional growth throughout your time with us. Our training model is designed to help you build the skills, confidence, and professional identity needed to thrive in private practice. When you complete your training and graduate from your training program, we hope you’ll feel ready to step into your own independent practice—with the option to continue working with the patients you’ve developed strong therapeutic relationships with during your time here.
Outcome
By the end of your placement, you will have a strong foundation in both clinical care and private practice management. Our goal is to ensure you leave East Coast Psychology Group confident, prepared, and fully equipped to launch and manage your own thriving private practice.
